1. My number one tip if you haven't already is to get yourselves out on a whale watching vessel. The whales are putting on quite a show at the moment, and it's bound to be an unforgettable experience. (Of course whales are wild animals and no guarantee can be made, but given the photos being put up on facebook, the odds are currently in your favour). We've now been on 2 different cruises and both have been excellent, so pick the one that suits you for time and cost.
2. If you have errands to run in the city, book a session at the Myer Wonderland Ice Rink to sweeten the deal.
3. Sherlock Holmes at the Powerhouse offers something for everyone. Older readers will enjoy the history of crime writing and rivalry with Edgar Allen Poe, while the younger ones will enjoy collecting stamps, filling their notebook and solving the crime. My favourite activity was testing the blood spatter and ballistics. It's a fun exhibition for all ages.
5.For kids of all ages is the fun of the Bastille Festival in Sydney. We had great fun at last year's event (photos here)
7. Head to Golf Paradise in Terrey Hills for a great chinese lunch with a free round of Putt Putt or some balls for the driving range thrown in. Double the fun of an outing.
8. Go old school with a puppet show for those 9 and under with Jeral Puppets at Puppeteria in Castle Cove.
9. Make a day of it and head to Wollongong to visit the Early Start Discovery Space and Science Centre & Planetarium.
Staying at home doesn't have to be boring!

I am going to miss not going to the snow this year after seeing posts on Facebook from where we went last year. We are off to warmer weather later this year in QLD. Hanging out to get back to Sydney though.
