Sculpture at Scenic World

Every year, Scenic World hosts a sculpture exhibition. Until the 13th May, 38 artworks are nestled in the rainforest along the 2.4 kilometre walkway. Included in the price of entry are the usual experiences, the cablecar, skyway and everybody's favourite, the steepest railway in the world. Note with the skyway, the middle floor becomes a window, so position little kids on the raised platform and they'll be entertained with the magic of the frosted glass dissolving to clear.

The views are breathtaking, the valley is twice as big as the Grand Canyon National Park in America, and you feel dwarfed by the magnificence of nature.

An easy day trip with parking on site as only 90 minutes from Sydney, or stay in Leura or Katoomba and head over before 10am for a discounted earlybird ticket.

The walkway is a boardwalk, so good for all levels of mobility, though it is long if you wish to take the sculpture route. There is a shorter version for the little legs, or those unable to manage distance. There are no bathrooms down from the main entry, so worth noting that before decent if with little kids.

Whether you make it in time for the sculptures, Scenic World is worth a visit to see Australia's glorious landscape.

  2. You know I've been walking the trails of the Blue Mountains and visiting the Scenic Railway complex on and off from a kid (that's about 42 years now) and I've never heard of the sculpture exhibition. How fantastic to find out about this - thanks so much. I won't get there this year but I'll check it out next year. #TheWeeklyPostcard
