Van Gogh Alive - a delightfully immersive experience

In Sydney with dates extended to November, if you haven't experienced it yet, the Van Gogh Alive is well worth seeing.



I hadn't realised it ran like a film, with the the art works telling his life story with his own quotes. You realise how well known so many of his 900 oil paintings are, an ironic reflection of his current success that he failed to see while alive.


The music (and apparently changing smells but with our masks, we didn't notice those) make for an immersive delight for the senses, with the visuals surrounding you. Note that the pictures do nothing to share the magnitude of the images that surround you, no matter where you stand.


This exhibition is just what we need right now. It's uplifting in it's beauty. You are temperature checked and masked before entering (bring your own or you can purchase one) and requested to space once inside.



You don't need to be an art enthusiast to enjoy the Van Gogh Alive experience. Treat yourself to a joyous explosion of colour and beauty. As Van Gogh himself said "Color in a picture is like enthusiasm in life.” and we all need some enthusiasm at the moment.

    I saw a Klmit immersion in Paris a couple of years ago. It was fantastic!

    I saw this last year in Paris and then here in Toronto in July. I would see it again.
    I'll admit I loved it in Toronto due to the social distancing rules. Circles on floor for you to remain in. So much less crowded than in Paris.

    I saw this on a series on Netflix. It makes one feel like they are a part of the painting. I think that would be wonderful.

    I like every of Van Gogh's paintings. They are mesmerising. In fact I have one of them in a puzzle which I display in my house :D Btw, glad to know you and hope you will find many writing assignments.

      Just submitted my Fairy Tale for the next round of the NY Midnight Contest. Was so stoked to go thru. Fingers crossed I make the final cut, but it will be a long shot! I have however, done a PB for me in this comp, so feel like I'm winning all the same!

    This looks very much like the Vincent Van Gogh show I saw in Atelier des Lumières last autumn. It was quite a visual feast, and worked well for all ages. I've not seen something on that scale before or since. Thanks for joining in with #CulturedKids
