We went for an overnight trip to Canberra in the holidays to see the magnificently joyful Jeffrey Smart exhibition. We dragged one of the kids with us, so the trade off was to go to Questacon and hang out at the hotel pool.

I can't recommend the Jeffrey Smart exhibtion enough. It's uplifting, funny and delightful. Gorgeous art. Pre book your time slot here. As we left Canberra, the bridges and freeway out of town turned into a Smart landscape. His work had infultrated how we looked at the world as we eased away from the city.
Lastly, we stopped at Some Cafe in Collector on the way home for lunch. Outdoor tables for Covidsafe eating are available, thought the cafe is housed in an early historic tavern. Burgers and salads, as well as all day breakfast options. Worth the pitstop.

Looks like a fun time, especially if one pre-books. I know it is a pain but here in Oklahoma, USA everybody acts like covid is over. The hospitals are bursting at the seams with the unvaccinated.
ReplyDeleteWe would really like to visit Canberra again... in the post covid world.... so much history to explore. Safe travels. I am visiting you today from Our World Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteinteresting exhibition #culturedkids
ReplyDeleteYour photos of you visit there are really great to see! Alas, life has certainly changed in the last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your concern about comments on MCoW linkup. Each has to be approved to be seen, so that's why you don't see any until later :)
Thanks for sharing your link at My Corner of the World this week!
Great that you didn't allow covid to spoil your fun. The art looks delightfully different!
ReplyDeleteJeffrey Smart exhibtion looks fabulous and uplifting as you say and yes the new world has the 'joys' of extra bookings, tests, vaccin passes, additional apps, all worth it though to get the culture and freedom back into our lives! Sending hugs from London, we are experimenting like Florida in the coming weeks less restrictions, let's see how it will work in practice for schools, hospitals and us all.
ReplyDeleteOh and thank you so much for linking into #culturedkids and another beautiful and honest article and making me daydream once again about Australia!
DeleteThe exhibition looks wonderful. Any your advice about pre-booking is a good tip!
ReplyDeletePre-booking does take away the spontaneity of any visits, but at least you got to enjoy the art exhibition. #CulturedKids
ReplyDeleteTravel's a whole different experience now, isnt it?! #CulturedKids
