The People's House - celebrating 50 years of the Sydney Opera House (Exhibition at Museum of Sydney)

From now until the 12th November, there's a great exhibition at the Museum of Sydney, celebrating not just with memorbillia but with footage of historic moments, scandals and performances.

It is free to enter and I spent an hour or so pottering about. I will admit I spent a long time  on the machine that threw up what happened on what day to see which performances or events I'd been at....a lot since the 1980s apparently.

I have a great love of this building, and the performance spaces and I feel overwhelming happiness so it was a really delightful trip down memory lane, but also to see the 'history' in the making.

It definitely is an exhibition which will have something to appeal to everyone.

Even Barbie makes an appearance.

I loved the (replica?) lotto balls that they used for the lottery to fund the building of the Opera House.

  1. Hi Lydia, this would be a wonderful exhibition to see! It's a truly magnificent building - definitely unique! I have stood outside on the steps of the Sydney Opera House but I've never been in and I've never seen any show there. That needs to be rectified! The sad thing is that I'm older than the Sydney Opera House! lol Thanks so much for supporting and linking up with #WWWHIMSY

  2. Sadly we won’t be in Sydney during the running of this exhibition. I’d certainly have been waiting for the museum doors to open to see it. Like Min I’ve been on the steps but never inside- I’ve even seen it from the deck of a cruise ship looking glorious on its spot there right o by the water.
Thanks for sharing your photos - lots of whimsy there. Just right for Min’s link up😊
    Take care
