Burnt Ends, Singapore

I have been watching this restaurant for years, seeing it rise on the lists of Top 100 best restaurants in the world list, Top 50 best restuarants in Asia and keeping it's Michelin Star status since 2018. It is always fully booked when I try to go. For our special anniversary dinner, I was determined not to miss it.  Reservations open for the month ahead so you need to book as soon as your date appears. I could only get the cocktail lounge on our date, and while I was disappointed not to be able to watch the kitchen, it was lovely all the same.

The bookings are for 2 hours and they're adhered to. As we arrived, all the 5 -7pm diners were leaving so you don't want to be late! We never felt rushed but we were out the door just on 9pm as the next sitting was beginning to pour in....

We went with the set menu, and it was the perfect amount of food. I'd been a little worried as I'm eating a lot less red meat and those big steaks I used to love don't agree with me so much anymore. However, while it was a lot of meat, it was in tiny serves and not heavy. It was all so perfect. Little tastes of all sorts of delicious things I would never think to choose.

I won't go into the details, as it ruins the surprise as each dish is not what your were expecting, and that's all part of the delight but trust me, it's sensational! I was also enjoying it all so much I forgot to take photos...

The room is gorgeous with lots to look at, the service is excellent and the food divine. We had such a lovely night!

I had been worried I'd built it up in my head too much, and the expectation would be let down. It was even mentioned in the book I was reading! The buzz about it is literally everywhere! However, it was all so gorgeous. Relaxed yet special.

While it's expensive (but Singapore is for us Aussies, always remember the ++), it was to me, worth every cent.

Practicalities:

Note there is also a bakery. It does have the 'build your own sanga' at home option. It's the burger, for those that don't know. If you have an appartment accomodation, then this could be a way to try the treats on the cheap.  I am now wondering if I can get cakes delivered during the Grand Prix weekend (as I'm in a hotel with no kitchen....)?
