Sydney - an escape in pictures

We'd won a voucher for a free night at the Four Seasons in Sydney, and as it was school holidays, we forked out and paid for an adjoining room. We weren't going away these holidays, so it was great to have a little escape to look forward to, even if just for 24 hours.

The views were spectacular, and no matter how long you live in this city, the iconic harbour never ceases to take your breath away.

We headed out for lunch up at the Festival Village and pottered around town. The kids were keen to hit the pool for a bit and we whiled away an hour or two, returning to the room for a lazy siesta before dinner.

A quick stroll through the Rocks and then cocktails and dinner at The Morrison with other like minded families, tourists and locals alike.

Retiring to the room, with the city lights sparking, it seemed a shame to waste the view by drawing the curtains...

Alas the morning brought with it the demands of the working day, and we only had time for breakfast and a quick dip before making our departure.

Sometimes the luxury of a holiday is the decadence of the escape.

  1. We've sometimes gone 'away' for the weekend in Sydney, where we live. You discover a lot of great things about your own city when you see it through your travellers' eyes.

  4. A lovely weekend escape for you :-) We left Sydney nearly 25 years ago, but we love to go back and have a little holiday in our old home town. We do see it in a different way now that we live in a regional area. There's always plenty to see and do. I love the harbour and the history, especially around The Rocks.

  7. What an awesome prize! Your view is spectacular. I'm glad people who live in Sydney find the harbour just as impressive as those of us who are still tourists!

  12. I've never seen a view of Sydney from your first shot - it's great, and shots are always from the other side because of the front of the Opera House.
