Last weeks of the 23rd Biennale of Sydney

If you have been yet, you only have a few weeks left to make the most of the gorgeous free art all over Sydney. The 'galleries' are scattered all around the Harbourside of Sydney, so make for an enjoyable visit even if you aren't part of the art crowd normally.

I've been popping into the Glass Animal Orchestra in the park at Barangaroo, catching one soundscape at a time. I finally managed to get the Oceans yesterday and it did not disappoint. The Before/After is worth catching to see the noticable effect of drought on birds.

There is a selection in the Cutaway too, with a Mary's Burgers and Campari Bar to pitstop in.

The Art Gallery of NSW also has a small selection of works.

The winner for me, however, so far at least as I still have 3 sites to cross off, is Pier 2/3. If you can go in the afternoon on a sunny day, there is a magnificent work that gleams. It kept drawing my attention, even as I was leaving I had to return to it one more time. It is a beautiful work, made of gold and fish hooks. And the photos do nothing to show you how spectacular it is.

Make a day of it and visit all the sites in one day or do what I did and do one in your lunch break or when you're able to.

It's a thought-provoking, beautiful art and best of all it's free.

  1. Oh wow! that's quite a collection. Thank you for showing us some of the art, Lydia.
This is something to wait for every other year. :)
