Amoy Food Centre and it's Street Art

Not far from the famous Maxwell Food Centre is the Amoy Food Centre, less tourists though still very busy. There are a number of stalls with long queues or locals and others that have been written up in guides or blogs attracting the tourists.

My friend went with a seafood soup that had a long, long line - but was worth the wait as she thought it was the best thing she ate all trip. I opted for some Michelin Bib Noodles, which were lovely - tasty but not oily. I also got some fried dumplings from a different stall. So for what we ate, 100% recommended. We got the delicious lime juice to cool down.

I chose this centre because I'd heard it was better, and it was closer to where we wanted to explore afterwards, but only really by 100 metres or so...

The other reason was the art. I heard it had another work by the artist who made the controversial smoking Samsui woman mural, Sean Dunston. So it was an art and food excursion - my two favourite things. However it is actually by Ceno with ACS students.

The murals are representing Singapore's cultural history, and really brighten the concrete space.

Just nearby, there is this fun trompe l'oeil, playing with the covered walkway.
We wandered back to the MRT past shops and temples, and plenty of buildings adorned with murals. Then it was time, as it so often is after an outing in Singapore, to cool down in the hotel pool before heading out again!
