Sydney Tower - an insider tip

The Sydney Tower Eye is what us old locals would call Centrepoint tower even though it's been Westfield for decades. It is that iconic tower in the Sydney skyline, that marks an outline as Sydney. The 'Eye' is the viewing platform floor. Tickets are here for $28.

Recently we had friends from Greece for lunch at the house but because I don't think you travel halfway around the world to sit in a backyard in the suburbs, once everyone else left, we zipped into the city for some 'sightseeing' at Bar 83. I had been looking at availability throughout the day and booked us a table en route. While you can book on arrival, it's best to avoid disappointment.

There is a minimum spend of $30 per person but for that money, you get a cocktail or drinks and a snack. You must be over 18 so not one for the kids. However, the views are the same spectacular look out the Heads and of the city.

If you can swing it, go at sunset. It is magnificent. We had a cloudy day so we arrived at 4, as the sky was never going to light up for us.

The smile on my friends faces as they walked in and saw the view was worth it. We ordered and I sent them to wander around the room to see all the views. Then we just relaxed, chatting and taking in the Harbour Bridge from our comfy chairs.

This is the best kind of sight seeing! Costs more or less the same but you get so much more!
