However, the minute I saw the kayaks all lit up, I began to smile with excitement.
We were heading out past the bay in Kiribilli as the sun came up. It was magical - quiet with the lapping water and birds beginning to fly about.
I didn't find it arduous so I'm not sure if the kayaks were wider and easier to handle or if it was a super calm day on the water. They have double kayaks too if you are worried.
You paddle around to Luna Park with plenty of photo ops. They take photos for you if you are like me and scared about losing your phone to Davy Jones.
It was so beautiful and so worth the cost and the effort. It's not cheap but it did include a lovely breakfast at the cafe on the water on your return.
All photos are taken by Sydney Kayak Experience or my friends and husband. I am too clumsy and I would have been taking too many photos to paddle. We are now going to book the sunset tour as it's such a great thing to do! I suspect, however, part of the magic is the stillness of the night slowly being shaken off as the waterways come alive with all the boats starting their rounds...
Note they also do a Paddle & Paint where you take photos and then go and paint one of the photos on a canvas to take home.

Lovely photographs. I always think of how grand it would be to visit Australia, but the distance from the U.S. is daunting. Beautiful country.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow and more wow. Last time I drove over to look at the Harbour (in the rain) I saw kayakers...I could not do that these days but what a magical experience this was. Denyse #WeekendCoffeeShare
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical experience! Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
ReplyDeleteA night kayak looks so cool!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun adventure. I'm clumsy too and would be afraid of dropping my camera or phone and I also would want to stop way too often to take pics. I'd drive everyone crazy.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved Sydney Harbour, Lydia. Growing up around the lower North Shore and Balmain, there were always regular ferry rides to Manly during school holidays. On our recent trip to Sydney we took a harbour cruise and then a ferry to Manly which brought back many memories. Your photos are stunning. Thanks for sharing with us at What's Been On Your Calendar? and I hope you have a wonderful June. Sue L x
ReplyDeleteWow. I thought I had already commented another time. You did this so well and the photos prove it. What a joyful experienced to be there, on that beautiful harbour we love. Denyse x
ReplyDeleteYou did comment! It shows up on my back end. I didn't notice it hadn't appeared here...!?!
DeleteThat looks magical... we're currently reading Wind In The Willows for bookclub so I had a little giggle at your closing para.
ReplyDeleteGreat reflections.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited and scared at the prospect of kayaking. But I think this is the year I will try it.
ReplyDeleteWorth a Thousand Words
This looks like such an amazing adventure. Thank you for sharing it with us and taking us along! <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun thing to do, and wonderful photos. I would definitely give that a try!
ReplyDeleteI got as excited as you when I saw the kayaks all lit up. Good thing you opted out of taking these photographs. Much safer for the camera and not winding up in the water yourself trying to paddle and capture images. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.
ReplyDeleteNeat sighting of the seal. It is cool to see the kayaks lit up, sounds like a fun time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great week ahead.
Well that is pretty cool. I love kayaking and taking photos. I have a waterproof box for my phone and I take photos with a waterproof point and shoot that hangs on a lanyard around my neck. Works pretty well. Phones are too easy to lose to have them out to take photos while on the water.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos - you can get such nice photos from the water
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful Lydia, I love the idea of the quiet in the morning and the lights on the kayaks make it look amazing! Well done and thanks for sharing with us. I love the Wind in the Willows quote you included!! So cool. #WBOYC
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures, Thanks for sharing picturesque Sydney by water, I am sure it must have been fun kayaking in sunrise.
